Urinary Problems:
1. Urinary incontinence
2. Urinary retention
Recommendations (Dr. Ali Nemati):
• For patients with urinary retention, a urinary catheter is recommended for approximately two weeks. The catheter should be replaced every two weeks to prevent infection.
• Recommended management: Keep the catheter closed for 2 hours and open for 15 minutes to allow periodic urine drainage.
• Use a manual white catheter, applied three times daily with a lubricating gel to facilitate urine flow.
• Important note: The catheter must be sterilized before each use. This can be done by slightly piercing a saline solution bag and immersing the catheter tube to disinfect it.
Reminder: Strict hygiene and proper catheter sterilization are crucial to prevent urinary tract infections.
