If any of the following occur, consult a neurosurgeon:
• Neck pain after injury or head trauma
• Fever or headache accompanying neck pain
• Stiff neck preventing you from touching your chin to your chest
• Pain radiating along one arm
• Tingling, numbness, or weakness in the hands or arms
• Neck pain accompanied by leg weakness or loss of coordination in arms and legs
• Neck or shoulder pain that does not improve within 4 weeks and weakness increases
