Intermittent Catheterization (IC) for Men
Required Supplies (According to Dr. Ali Nemati – Neurosurgeon):
• Appropriate catheter
• Water-soluble lubricating gel
• 4 × 4 inch gauze or paper towels
• Disposable wet wipes or soapy wipes
• Disinfectant spray
• Urine collection container and collection bag
Key Points:
• Perform IC every 3 to 6 hours.
• The interval depends on fluid intake and urine volume.
• Most patients perform IC 4 to 5 times a day.
Note: Maintaining hygiene and using sterile materials are crucial to prevent urinary tract infections.
